Heat pump water heater rebates by utility
Short utility-row checklists for WA/OR homeowners shopping a heat pump (hybrid) water heater. Dollar amounts and deadlines change. Hire a licensed plumber and electrician when the install requires it. This site does not teach DIY electrical or gas work.
How to use this desk
- Confirm which electric utility serves the install address (bill header / account).
- Open that utility row. Note rebate amount, Tier/QPL rules, DIY vs contractor path, and deadline.
- Cross-check model eligibility (NEEA/BPA Tier, ENERGY STAR, tank size).
- Build a paperwork folder before install day.
- Get permits and hire licensed trades when code or the rebate program requires it.

Federal / ENERGY STAR caveats
- Do not assume a 2026 federal 25C credit for a new HPWH. Older marketing often still shows “30% / up to $2,000” — that window ended for property placed in service after Dec 31, 2025 (verify on IRS materials).
- State HEAR / HOMES-style rebates (if any) are separate from utility midstream discounts. Check your state energy office — not invented here.
- ENERGY STAR heat pump water heaters and NEEA Advanced Water Heater Spec tiers are common QPL filters — your utility’s list wins.
Safety / hire a pro
- HPWH installs often need plumbing, 240 V electrical, condensate drain, and local permits.
- If you are not licensed and insured for the work your AHJ requires — hire a licensed plumber and/or electrician.
